What Happened Here?

My guess is “It’s been a while since posting” is a tough keyword search phrase to win on the search results page for many professional bloggers out there, as just about every blog goes through a dormant phase, and a ‘hey, we are back!’ post after x amount of time.

So, it’s time to restart the postings now that I’ve given nearly a year to let things settle down.  We’ve been busy since announcing our move to Cancun exactly one year ago, the most important thing being that we got married on November 11, 2010.  We had our families meet us in Cozumel for a week of beach, food, golf, fishing, snorkeling, spa, and wedding fun.

Other personal events over the past year include exploring a new part of Mexico for us, the Yucatan, with trips to the aforementioned Cozumel, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Puerto Morelos, Mérida, Campeche, Uxmal, Isla Mujeres, and a lot of other places in between.

We celebrated the arrival of new family members, and mourned the passing of loved ones

We also adjusted to a new lifestyle in a tourist destination, with plusses like beach, warm weather, golf, having a car, having a house.  We also adjusted to things we miss from Mexico City, like our great neighborhood, not sweating all day and most of the night, not having to worry about driving in for the commute, not dealing with tourists.

On a professional level, the move for Gretchen has been great, as her office environment is much more active, and she now has direct contact with the people she works with, plus having an office on the beach can be nice, too!

For myself, changing the focus of my web development company, Polanco Media, to mobile apps, has been a positive move, as we have been very busy with Appcelerator Titanium Development for Android and iPhone apps.

I am also planning on doing more app development related posts in the future, so there will be some time for figuring out how to split between personal and professional here on the blog.  Should be fun.
